I spent it interning at a venture capital firm in Zhongguancun, the district often called China's Silicon Valley, in Mr. Zhang's office and under the guidance of a mentor, Mr. Guo. What stayed with me was the way Mr. Guo worked. He brought a focus and a dedication I had rarely seen up close, and he carried it with a warmth that made people want to learn from him. He was patient with a student who knew very little, generous with his time, and kind in a way that left a lasting impression on me.

It was there, watching projects built around emerging AI technologies, that I became fascinated by how economics, business, and investment quietly shape the world we live in and the one we are walking toward.

I came home wanting to build something of my own. At first I called it the International Finance and Economics Forum. Before long I renamed it the World Young Economists Forum, which felt truer to what it really was: a young person's attempt to take this field seriously, and to do so alongside others. I wanted a place where ambitious students anywhere in the world could do real work, sit in long conversations with academics and professionals, and think their way through actual economic questions rather than rehearsed answers.

What matters to me is using what we learn, and using it together. Economics comes alive only when it is shared. A theory read alone stays inert; the same idea carried across a table between people from different countries, with different histories and assumptions, becomes something larger and more honest. The exchange is where understanding happens, and that understanding is the whole point. It is why our two lines have never changed: encourage exchange, enrich economics.

We are young, and still working much of it out. But every session and every shared piece of work convinces me further that this is worth doing. Thank you for reading, and for being part of it.
